John Jowdy

John Jowdy

 An introduction by Jerry Moll

I am privileged to have been, for some years now, corresponding with John Jowdy who lives with his lovely wife Brenda in San Diego, California.

John Jowdy is a legend in bowling. Having coached many of the top USA bowling stars over six decades, he is understandably often referred to as “the coach to the Pros”. He has also coached various national team members and he was the first bowling coach to be voted into the ABC (American Bowling Congress) and PBA (Professional Bowlers Association) Halls of Fame.

The World Bowling Writers selected John for their International Coach award for 2006 .

John is also a prolific writer of bowling related articles published in several bowling journals. His book “Bowling Execution”, published in 2002, is considered to be one of the finest instructional books ever written. This book can be purchased for £13.99 plus £2.75 pp from Human Kinetics Ltd Tel: 0113 255 5665 (Leeds UK).

John has very kindly given me permission to publish some of his articles on this website for the benefit of KTBA bowlers. I have started by adding his acclaimed 3 part “Check List” series which are designed to be a quick reference guide to improving aspects of your game. In addition, his thought provoking article “Plastic Balls” is also now published on this website. More to follow soon!
