KENT AREA CHAMPIONSHIPS 2008
Standell from Tunbridge Wells battled it out. Chris emerged as Champion, having beaten Wayne in the semi-final and then his brother, Justin (KTBA Masters Champion 2006). Click here for more Masters detail.
Congratulations to Jan Hodge and Chris Standell - KTBA Masters Champions 2008!
This year the Area Championships were held at AMF Ashford. Once again there was a disappointing number of entries, but we managed to have an enjoyable and successful event. Click here for more detail.
In the Invitational Masters Jan Hodge retained her title, beating Sheila White in the final. The ladies final was between two experienced campaigners. Jan has won the Ladies Masters no less than nine times, including the last three in a row! Sheila has won five times including four years in a row from 1987-1990!
The Mens competition was quite different with three of the four semi-finalists bowling in the Masters for the first time. Jason Cooper and brothers Wayne and Justin Shaw, all from AMF Chatham and Chris

KENT GIRLS TAKE GOLD IN UNDER 16's INTER COUNTIES
The girls’ team was made up from Jessica Silvester from Cliftonville and four Whitstable girls;
Hannah Frost, Hannah Smith, Chloe Monks and Katie Reeves.
In the last edition of Bowling News we reported success for the Kent girls in the Under 18's Inter-Counties. I'm happy to report that the Under 16's won the gold medals in the Inter-County Championships at Nuneaton on Sunday 20th April 2008.
Last year the girls team finished in third place behind Derbyshire and Yorkshire, this year they won the event, regaining the trophy! Hannah Frost won the girl's high average of the tournament with a magnificent 206.2 over the five games. This is the fourth successive year that they have brought home medals!

At the Area Championships, Kent season highs were recorded in the doubles and team events. In the regular doubles, Jake Plewis and Nathan Clark rolled the highest series to date of 2007-8 with 1249. Steve and Jeff White achieved the highest regular doubles game with 501 - Steve 257 and Jeff 244.
In the mixed doubles, Matt Tomlin and Hannah Smith recorded a 1144 series including a 414 game which was the highest of the season in both game and series categories. The "Odd Bunch" (their name!) bowled an 872 four person team game which, so far, is the second highest of the season.
Cliff Dew has excelled in the Olympic League. In successive weeks he rolled series of 731 followed by a 774. These two series included high games of 279, 277 and 269. Well done Cliff!
We have received a recent report from the Spartan League of a 300 game (724 series) for Steve Williams. Another player achieving high scores on the same pair of lanes was Jan Hodge with a 278 game and a 707 series. Excellent!
