KENT BOWLING NEWS

Editorial - November 2008

Now that our new season is underway, please do email me high scores, stories or letters for this website. The next KTBA Tournament will be the Clubs which will be held at AMF Ashford on 25 January. For further details, click here. John Jowdy coaching articles, "Free Armswing", "Power Step", "Right Slide" and "Trailing Leg" are now available, click here.

It would appear that several Kent leagues have decided not to resanction this season. If you are involved with any of these leagues, I would be interested to hear the reasons for this so please do let me know.

The Bert & Vicky Timms Memorial Mixed Doubles was held at Bugsy's, Cliftonville on 9th November 2008.

Jan and Keith Hodge set a new Mixed Doubles High Game for the Kent All-Time High Scores list. They achieved a superb doubles game of 513 with Keith rolling an excellent 268 and Jan contributing a splendid 245 game. The previous Kent High Mixed Doubles Game was a 488 game bowled at Bexleyheath by D Nicholson (now D Boyd) and C. Crowther (info taken from the KTBA 2002 Anniversary Year Book).

The handicap winners (subject to verification) were Bill Shrimpton and Angie Thick. Bill bowled a 606 (681 h'cap) series and Angie a superb 593 (716), giving them an excellent 1199 (1397) series.

Josh Plewis and Jess Silvester were runners-up in the handicap section, scoring 1187 (1313) and Chris Skudder and Jan Hodge finished third with 1207(1300).

The scratch trophy was presented to Jan and Keith Hodge together with £300 worth of Pro-shop vouchers which they very generously donated to Cliftonville's YBC. Jan rolled a 612 series and Keith achieved a 596 series.
