KENT BOWLING NEWS
Editorial - September
Life remains busy for us at the K.T.B.A.! September started well with the news that the Kent Adult
Men's team have won a place at the Inter-County finals. The website has reports on the qualifying rounds for both the men's and the ladies teams.
We have two tournaments in the pipeline with the Club Tournament for 2005-6 Qualifiers taking place on 23rd September and the Bert and Vicky Timms Tournament on the 11th November. We have been disappointed by the numbers of entries received for recent tournaments and hope that there will be better support for events in the future.
Criticism has been made of the late notice that has been given for tournaments in the past and also that entry forms have not been readily available. I believe that we have now corrected both those problems. Tournaments have been sanctioned and advertised well in advance and, whenever possible, we are now putting a printable version of entry forms on this website. Additionally, we are starting to produce posters advertising KTBA tournaments which will be displayed on bowl notice boards by your KTBA centre representative.
Work on the website continues with more items being added most days. The Hall of Fame is almost complete now. The only things to be added are All Time High Scores. This is proving a little difficult as records are not as good as we would like. We know there will probably be things missing, or possibly errors in what we show, so we'll be relying on you to tell us!
A "Bowling News" newsletter is being prepared to be distributed soon for the benefit of those who do not have access to the internet. The newsletter will give brief reports on events over the past few months.
I am pleased to announce that the "Bowling News" section of this website now features a John Jowdy section where you will find coaching and general interest articles written by him. The first two articles are now up & running.
Yet another new feature is a section showing historic copies of Bowling News covering our very first first edition in 1965 as well as extracts from 10 and 20 years ago and an interesting set of facts about 300 Games dating back to 1965.
We now receive regular reports of high scores being recorded by Gravesend's Olympic League, hopefully now that the new season is underway, we will be getting reports from other leagues. Just send the details of any newsworthy event to me using the email link at the bottom of this page and we will be glad to feature it!
It would be nice to have some feedback from you telling us what you think of the website. We are always open to new ideas. This website is for you, the bowlers of Kent - so tell us what you want!
P.S. Do keep an eye on our Notice Board!
